Nominations Committee 2022 Report

The Committee of Nominations was brought together in January. The committee continues to struggle getting two representatives from each deanery to serve. We had lay and clergy representatives from the deaneries of Alameda and San Francisco, lay representatives from Marin, clergy representatives from Southern Alameda and Contra Costa, and two vacant positions in the Peninsula deanery. I continued serving as chair of the committee. We met monthly Feb through April, bi-monthly May, July, and August.

Positions open for nominations were sent out to the diocese in early May and the deadline for nominations from July 31st to August 13th. By the deadline we had 2 lay and 3 clergy nominees for Standing Committee, 1 clergy and 1 lay nominee for Executive Council, 1 nominee for Secretary of the Convention, and 1 nominee for Treasurer of the Diocese. For General Convention Delegation we had 10 lay and 11 clergy nominees. We are excited about the diversity of the slate of nominees for the General Convention deputation.

This year we made an extra effort to ensure that all nominees who are on the Convention roster and any nominations made from the floor will have completed all required Whole & Healthy Church training and the anti-racism training through Next Church. In September, our committee became aware that neither the online Whole & Healthy Church training nor our anti-racism training through Next Church had closed captioning which created issues around accessibility. The committee will work with the Faith Formation working group to ensure the two trainings we ask for are accessible in the years to come.

Thank you to our members of the Committee on Nominations: Patrick Anderson, Rev. Jim Dahlin, Don Miller, Rev. Walter Ramsey, Sr. Dana Augustine Kramer-Rolls, Rev.
