Volunteers help make our convention run smoothly! If you’re interested in volunteering at covnention we’d love your help! And don’t worry we’ll provide training and all other resources you may need. Descriptions for all volunteer positons are listed below.

Volunteer Position Descriptions

Pre-convention Assistance

🏷 Joyful Nametag Stuffing at DioHouse

📅 Date: Thursday, October 16
🕙 Time: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
📍 Location: DioHouse Basement

Join us for a relaxed and social volunteer session as we prepare name badges for Convention. We’ll be sitting together in a cozy room in the DioHouse basement, enjoying coffee and lots of good chatter while we:

  • Prepare paper name badges
  • Stuff them into plastic holders
  • Place badges in upright trays for easy viewing and distribution

This essential behind-the-scenes task helps everything start smoothly on Saturday.

Perfect for: Detail-oriented folks who enjoy relaxed, friendly company.

All Day Assistance

🙋 Here to Help: Morning & Afternoon Shifts (General Support)

Be part of our flexible on-call team during the morning and/or afternoon portion of Convention. You’ll be ready to assist wherever needed—whether it’s guiding people, running materials, or helping someone find their seat.

  • Take on small but important tasks as they arise
  • Fill in for other volunteers on breaks
  • Be a helpful, friendly presence throughout the space

💻 Gentle Tech Guides: Serving as a Tech Chaplain

🕣 Time: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Intermittently throughout the day)

Help attendees get logged in and comfortable with VPOLL, our electronic voting system. No tech expertise required—just a calm presence and willingness to assist. We’ll walk you through everything you need to know with some pre-convention Zoom training!

  • Greet people who need help logging in
  • Provide instructions or simple troubleshooting
  • Connect folks with more complex issues to VPOLL point person

Perfect for: Patient, approachable folks who are comfortable with basic tech—or willing to learn!

Morning Assistance

☕️ Perky Morning Coffee Crew

📍 Location: Grace Cathedral Plaza

Our Morning crew will help set up our Coffee and snacks for the morning to welcome people   with joy. Our Lunch crew will help set up food on the lunch table, replace trays, check meal tickets and keep lunch flowing smoothly at the entry to the dining area.

  • Move food / drinks from kitchen to tables
  • Check for meal ticket listed on name bad

Direct people to the right line as needed

Perfect for: Anyone who doesn’t mind schlepping heaver items (like coffee/food materials) wants to help bring the joy of food and beverages to our convention.

Be the first friendly face our attendees see! Help welcome people to the Convention by checking them in and handing out their name badges. We’ll provide clear instructions and support to make the process smooth.

Mid-Day Assistance

Help keep lunch flowing smoothly by checking meal tickets at the entry to the dining area. This is a quick, easy task that helps ensure everyone who ordered a meal gets one efficiently.

🎵 Convivial Convention Choir

📅 Date: Saturday, October 18
🕛 Time: 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
📍 Location: Grace Cathedral

All are welcome, both delegates and volunteers, to join the choir for the Convention Eucharist. The choir will rehearse at 12:00 followed by a break for lunch. They will then lead an anthem and other music in the service that follows.

  • Work with diocesan music directors
  • Sing with the majestic Grace Cathedral organ
  • Get to know choristers from across the diocese

Perfect for: Anyone with experience of choral singing who would like to join a larger choir to support liturgy at Convention.
