2026 Trainings

Dear Friends,

Anti-racism and Safe Church training are requirements for clergy and everyone serving in diocesan offices and at Convention. These trainings must be renewed every three years.

The anti-racism training requirement can be fulfilled in the following ways:

  • Participation in the full Sacred Ground program offered through DioCal congregations.

  • Participation, individually or as a group, in the online Becoming Beloved Community course offered by ChurchNext. Register >>>.

  • The Diocese of Northern California offers the following upcoming trainings approved by DioCal:

  • Participation in another training approved by The Episcopal Church. Contact the Rev. Canon Eric Metoyer (emetoyer@diocal.org) if you have questions.

Safe Church Training is also required and offered online through Praesidium.

  • Contact Canon Denise Obando (deniseo@diocal.org) for Safe Church requirements and registration information.

Our goal is to build the multicultural Beloved Community, rooted in Christ and bearing fruit for the healing of the world, where everyone belongs.

Blessings,

The Rev. Canon Eric Metoyer
Canon Denise Obando

In 2023 the 174th Convention passed Resolution B: Amend Canons II & IIIRequire Anti-Racism Training Certification for Clergy and Delegates to Convention. This resolution requires anti-racism training and Safe Church training for all convention voting members. If you have not taken these trainings within the last three years, you will need to update your training.

Note: You will be required to report your safe church and anti-racism training as part of the pre-registration process for the convention.
